The Monkey Island franchise is celebrating its 30th anniversary, giving us the perfect opportunity to explore its roots. Once I rebooted the console, opened up the game and loaded my save, I was able to play the last thirty minutes of the game getting the other ending and the Marooned Everyone trophy with no issue.Humor, an engaging story, and memorable characters – these are the trademarks of the cult adventure game series created by Ron Gilbert and LucasArts. I tested out the validity of this by finishing the first playthrough, letting the credits complete and the game to reload to the menu screen, exited out of the game and turned off the PS3 for three hours. There were rumors that the trophy will not be achieved if the second ending is attempted in a separate play session and that you must load the save and complete the second ending in one session to get it. Use this method only if you fail to create a save before you lose your chance to use the rock catapult. I did not personally play test this method as it is not the most effective and quickest way to get this trophy but I have seen multiple reports that it does work. This can be an alternate option for those who wish to attempt the speedrun on a second playthrough. It has been reported that this trophy can be achieved by playing through the game all the way through twice only ever using the auto-save. You should receive the trophy as the final cutscenes play out. Play through the rest of the game, using Herman’s ship to get back to Melee Island and finish the game to see the fate of the crew. The important thing is to have a save to go back to for the second ending and to not use a second Save Slot.Īfter you have played out the first run, load your save and use the rock catapult for the bananas, then use it again to destroy your ship out in the distance. You can do so and return to your game by loading the auto-save at any time. Please note that if you need to, quitting and auto-saving after this point, up until the end of the game, won't void your opportunity for this trophy. It is important to not save further progress on Slot #1 for the last section of the game so you don’t lose your opportunity to change the ending. The river fork location and the catapult can be accessed all the way up to this point so starting your replay for the second ending here, would mean much less of the game to play (as long as you save the ship destruction for the replay). You may also wait to make your final save in Slot #1 until right before you head into the Monkey Head Cave to get the root. The game will end showing Herman Toothrot still stranded on Monkey Island and the game will remember that you have seen the first ending. After using the catapult for its intended purpose you can play through the rest of the game and you will return to Melee Island with your crew. At the point when you use the rock catapult (referred to in game as "primitive art") to knock two more bananas off the tree, you should create a save in Slot #1. The most important thing to remember is you can carry on through the game only using the Auto-Save or you can save on Save Slot #1 when needed but you should not use Save Slot #2 at any point. This trophy requires some planning from the beginning of your playthrough.
